Electrical Installation Condition Report
**Attention Landlords! Find out how new legislation could affect you**
Selling a house? Buying a house? Renting a house?
What is an Electrical Installation Condition Report?
An EICR (formerly a “Periodic inspection”) is a detailed account of the electrical wiring in your home. During this inspection, we take a look behind some sockets/ lights/ switches etc, as well as running more complicated tests using specialist equipment. At the end of the process we provide you with an official NICEIC report, which details any defects we may find. We also grade these defects with a code, to let you know how urgent they are.
Do I need an Electrical Installation Condition Report?
It is recommended that you have an EICR carried out every 10 years (or 5 years if your property is rented). Many insurance companies specify that a house must have an up to date EICR, especially houses that are to be rented. It is soon to become a legal requirement, however.
